I’ve been in practice as a licensed clinical social worker for over twenty years. During this time, I’ve acquired the skills to treat individuals (adults and adolescents), families and couples, and also groups. Among the most common issues for which people seek therapy are anxiety and depression, relationship issues, career concerns, loss, illness and substance abuse. My goal is not only to reduce pain and conflict, but to move toward fulfilling the patient’s potential in all areas of life.I specialize in eating problems (anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating), body image issues, gender issues (LGBTQ) and trauma, both childhood and relationship. My training in trauma techniques, such as EMDR, has enabled me to work with individuals who have been involved in disasters as well as those who have been abused, especially as children and within a cult or intimate relationship. Often issues such as substance abuse and eating problems are the result of these traumatic experiences. I find that utilizing different approaches results in a more integrated understanding of what one has experienced.Feminist and gender theory as well as early attachment and relationship research have all influenced my therapeutic approach, however, I adjust to each individual’s needs and personality. In addition to my private practice, I supervise groups and individuals at The Trauma Studies Center of ICP (Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy), The Women’s Therapy Centre Institute and the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project.I accept all out of network insurance plans. My fees range from $150-$250 per session on a sliding scale.
